The Crawl’s Twitter team are going giveaway crazy – in fact, the whole of Twitter seems to want to give us as many chances as possible to win tickets to the festival. That’s ignoring the News of the World, Love Camden, Punch Bowl and Gaymers itself, all of which are offering their own competition to win weekend tickets.

You might remember the good old days of Facebingo, when I had to turn over Facebook to find small pictures to cut and paste onto a form; these new competitions require no such gargantuan effort – the News of the World’s is a ‘put your name in the hat’ sort of thing, whilst Love Camden just want you to list your favourite bands. I like these sort of competitions.

The Crawl, meanwhile, are asking fans of particular artists to retweet a given string of 140 characters on Twitter (yesterday the fanbase in question Lethal Bizzle‘s); on Facebook, they’re asking you to leave your name as a comment beneath a given wall post (it was on Hadouken’s page yesterday). Very, very easy ways to win tickets to the best Crawl line-up in aaaaaaages, as I’m know to call it – and it looks like they’re planning to keep it up for the next few days at least. So tune in, and enter … I have my tickets already, but I already have …

Camden Crawl/Vox Competition

This just spotted at MusicRadar.com:

PRESS RELEASE: Vox Amplification are joining forces with Gaymers Camden Crawl and are calling on all aspiring musicians to come and take part in the Vox Busking Sessions at the Camden Eye.

The sessions will run from 1pm to 6pm on both days of the festival, with a few secret performances thrown in too.

The 2011 Gaymers Camden Crawl, scheduled for Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1 Bank Holiday weekend will mark the 10th birthday for the Camden Crawl since its inception in 1995.

The VOX Busking Sessions will provide an ideal opportunity for solo artists and small groups to take the stage and showcase their material at this unique event in London, over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

Vox will provide you with a Samson Microphone, a Vox AC30, a Samson PA, and a Small Mapex drum kit.

You can click here to get involved. Not a proper competition, of course … but bet there’ll be a competitive spirit abroad. Anyway, sounds interesting – I’ll wager there’ll be some surprise guests about.

On the subject of compos, have the Crawl announced FaceBingo winners yet?

Today was a good day for the team at the Camden Crawl. It started with people whining that the line-up still hadn’t been announced; it ended with a Twitter frenzy about the announcement that We Are Scientists will be headlining this week’s CC Tips gig at the tiny Bull & Gate. That’s a major coup for them – not only a very cool band flagshipping one of their flagship shows, but a very swish way of diverting attention away from the dull wait for a press release.

Predictably, though, those tickets ran out the door like hot cakes – the whole thing was sold out in hours, if not minutes. Another disappointment to lay at the door of the Crawl!

Except you still have hope, my friends … I’ve just spotted that you can win two tickets to CC Tips 5 here.

Te Crawl played today canny indeed…

Soundcloud Competition

So this competition from the Crawl, in co-operation with SoundCloud, makes me wish I had a decent speaking voice. I like the idea – getting fans to develop content for the festival, and then providing them with the means of developing more over the weekend, is just the sort of thing enlightened events should be doing in these crowd-sourced times. (Hint, hint, guys.)

Unfortunately, I’m a writer not a broadcaster … so I’ll keep plugging away at FaceBingo. It’s that or actually shell out on a ticket. Which is crazy talk, innit?

It’s a hot opportunity for anyone who does have a voice that doesn’t sound like a strangled guinea pig, though. Go for it, don’t let the fanside down …

Rock-a-Rolla Magazine are new to the Crawl this year, but I’m willing to bet their curatorship will go really well – you only have to follow them on Twitter to get a flavour of what they’re about. Very nice.

All of which is by way of explaining my deductive processes for today’s FaceBingo clue: New to the Crawl this year, they’re sure to get things a’ rocking and a’ rolling…

It’s getting a bit embarrassing, really, isn’t it? You can find the latest FaceBingo square here.

I’m going to get myself a reputation: FACEBINGO!

(“Amy’s local”? Guys. I’m beginning to feel like one of those people who’s proud when they get the answer to the This Morning quiz right: is the answer “A: An obvious nonsense; B: A patronising red herring; or C: The only possibly correct answer?” Hmm. Let me think.)

It’s all going to come down to who gets picked out of that hat…
